They/Them Pronouns
I (Zee Parton) began working with children at the age of 14 when I began working as a respite worker for children through the State of Illinois. During high school, I completed a CNA training and worked as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) for several years while also continuing to working as a respite worker for children and their families with the State of Illinois. Once I had enough college credits to transition over to working as a lead teacher in a child care center, I realized that I loved working with toddlers and twos. This led to a focus in Early Childhood Education as an education focus and I received my AA, BS, and 04 teaching certificate in Early Childhood Education. After several years of teaching (primarily Pre-K), I decided to further explore the younger side of my specialty in Early Childhood Education and completed the training to become a Developmental Therapist for the State of Illinois Early Intervention Program. In my role as a Developmental Therapist, I have also become an evaluator to qualify children into the Early Intervention Program. I worked to become a Pediatric Certified Sleep Consultant through the Family Sleep Institute and have been working with families inside and outside of Early Intervention to help children and families find a better night's sleep. I am a proud member of the LGBTQIA+ community and I work to further social justice for all. I am trying to learn how to use the privilege I have in my life to further the voices of those who are quieted. My goal in my career is to help children and their families thrive in all settings and situations no matter what each child's individual road map looks like. My greatest joy is delighting in who your child is with you and helping you feel empowered to meet your child's developmental and educational needs.
