She/Her Pronouns
I (Stacy Parton) decided I wanted to be a therapist at 12 years of age and I have dedicated my life to this pursuit. I earned a BS degree in Psychology and Philosophy at Illinois State University and went on to pursue my MA in Clinical Psychology, also at ISU. Since then, I have worked with people of all ages in a variety of settings. I found my biggest passion is helping people who have experienced trauma find ways to heal and live their full, authentic lives. I truly believe that even after a lifetime of suffering we can find ways to thrive. I am trained in EMDR, which is an evidenced-based treatment for PTSD and other effects of trauma and I find that this treatment modality can make healing much faster and more efficient. But, EMDR is not for everyone! I am certified as a Level-2 Clinical Trauma Professional and am trained in numerous therapy modalities that can help. Therapy is not a one-size-fits-all intervention and I work collaboratively with my clients to find what works best for them. I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and have a passion for social justice. Discrimination and oppression can be one of the most traumatizing things experienced by those of us with marginalized identities. In addition to doing our own healing, I believe that it is crucial that we work to dismantle the systems of oppression in our society.
